What is the TOTOX Score?
The TOTOX (Total Oxidation) score is a measure used to assess the freshness and quality of omega-3 oils, including fish oils and other sources of omega-3 fatty acids. It combines two key indicators of oxidation: the peroxide value (which measures primary oxidation) and the anisidine value (which measures secondary oxidation). Together, these values provide a comprehensive picture of the oil's oxidative state.
Why TOTOX isn’t included on our COAs:
We do not include TOTOX testing results on our finished product COAs because the natural lemon oil flavoring in our Omega-3 softgels interferes with the p-anisidine (pAV) test, which is a key part of the TOTOX calculation. This makes the final TOTOX value inaccurate when tested on the finished softgels. Instead, we calculate TOTOX using the individual fish oil lot COAs prior to flavoring and encapsulation—ensuring an accurate assessment of freshness and quality.
Our TOTOX Score: Less Than 26
We are proud to maintain a TOTOX score of less than 26 for our omega-3 products. This low score indicates that our omega-3 oils are of high quality, with minimal oxidation. A TOTOX score below 26 is considered excellent in the industry, ensuring that you receive fresh, potent omega-3s with every dose.
